Effective immediately, March 17th, 2020 – All City of Taylorville Buildings will be CLOSED to the general public and vendors UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. All City of Taylorville Departments will continue to operate and will be available by phone.
Access to the Police Department and the Fire Department will be restricted to the lobbies. If assistance is needed please call the non-emergency numbers. Taylorville Police Department (217) 824-2211, and Taylorville Fire Department (217) 824-2295. If it is an emergency, please call 911.
Water bills and lake lot payments can be made using the drop boxes located inside the municipal building or the alley to the south of the building. If further assistance is needed with the administrative offices, please call the following numbers – City Clerks office (217) 824-2101 or Water Collection Department (217) 824-2919.
If you have any COVID-19 questions or concerns, please call the Christian County Health Department between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday at (217) 824-4113. You may also contact the Illinois Department of Public Health’s 24/7 Coronavirus Hotline at 1-800-889-3931 or e-mail at email@example.com.
I would like to reiterate to the public to please try to stay home and limit your access to groups including but not limited to church, grocery stores, or any other public gatherings. Please limit personal contact with others. Please utilize other avenues to communicate such as cell phone, landline, internet and/or e-mail.
If you have symptoms or you aren’t feeling well, please “first” call your Doctor’s office or local walk-in-clinic. Do NOT go to your Doctor’s office or the Emergency Room at the hospital before calling first. Anyone in need of food, please call the Mayor’s Office at (217) 287-7946 and we can direct you in the right direction.
Council meetings will be open to the public but we request that you contact the Mayor’s office or your Alderman with any specific concerns. We would like to limit access for the safety of our City Officials, Superintendents, and other Management. We will not be doing a “Youth of the Month” or “Volunteer of the Month” for the time being to limit access to the City Hall due to safety concerns. Also, we have set in place limited access within the Municipal Building for the safety of our employees. We have increased our cleaning routine to several times a day throughout the Municipal Building.
