The City of Taylorville West Main Cross Road Improvement Project is soon beginning. The project will encompass West Main Cross starting just west of Webster St. and running to Silver St. Residents will first notice signage informing the public of road construction ahead. The first step of the project is water main and sewer main replacement. This will be done over the winter starting as early as Dec. 15. Traffic will be curtailed in certain areas as work occurs, but the area affected will be opened upon completion of that work and then work will continue further down the road until completion. Once the water and sewer mains are installed, the roadwork will start. This will entail removing the old road and replacing it with a new surface, as well as new curb and gutter in that area. Sidewalks in some areas will be replaced as well. All intersections will receive ADA compliant sidewalks.
