Water main installation has moved passed the intersection of Cheney and West Main Cross. The intersection is now open. Work will continue along West Main Cross going east from Cheney. Crossroads will be closed along the way. Prior to the intersection of West Main Cross and Shumway being closed, the public will be notified. This is the City of Taylorville’s West Main Cross Road Improvement Project. The project will encompass West Main Cross starting just west of Webster St. and running to Silver Street. The first step of the project is water main and sewer main replacement. The work was started in mid-December and work will continue over the winter. Traffic will be curtailed in certain areas as work occurs, but the area affected will be opened upon completion of that work and then work will continue further down the road until completion. Once the water and sewer mains are installed, the roadwork will start. This will entail removing the old road and replacing it with a new surface, as well as new curb and gutter in that area. Sidewalks in some areas will be replaced as well. All intersections will receive ADA compliant sidewalks.
